Bunnell, FL - An 8-year-old driver of a bumper car set off a chain-reaction accident involving six other bumper cars Thursday afternoon and then fled the scene on foot, police said.
The driver was arrested at a vending trailer buying cotton-candy nearly 30 minutes after the accordion-like collision.
No one was seriously injured in the accident, which occurred near the spinning tea cups, just across from the ferris wheel, police said.
The accident took place at 1:30 p.m., when the red bumper car slammed into the rear of a yellow bumper car, which set off the chain reaction.
Even while bumper cars were still slamming into one another, police said the driver of the red bumper car swung around the line of cars and turned right into the green bumper car for no apparent reason.
One of the drivers of the other bumper cars set off in pursuit of the young fleeing driver, but was not able to keep up with the speedy 8-year-old, Sgt.
